$10M Awarded for Cedar Creek Wastewater Upgrades
Nassau County’s Department of Public Works was awarded $10 million through New York’s Water Quality Improvement Project program for upgrades at the Cedar Creek wastewater plant in Wantagh. The award was announced in January as part of a broader Long Island water-quality package.
The project is intended to prevent sediment from entering the Bay Park Conveyance system and reduce nitrogen discharges. The state identifies Reynolds Channel and the Cedar Creek watershed as areas expected to benefit from improved water quality.
For South Shore residents, the story is an investment in the infrastructure behind cleaner waterways. The $10 million is an awarded grant for this specific Nassau project, rather than the total regional package. The announcement does not provide a completion date.

Free Online Classes for Older New Yorkers
Learning something new doesn’t have to involve a drive or another membership fee. New York’s partnership with GetSetUp gives older residents access to free online classes and social learning, with subjects ranging from technology to creative activities and wellness.
Use the New York partnership page, rather than starting with a general paid offer, and check the current class schedule and enrollment terms. The program is an ongoing resource, not a new launch. A practical first step: choose one topic you’ve been meaning to try and reserve a session that fits your week.

Korean Culture Day Comes to the Gardens Saturday
Old Westbury Gardens hosts its fourth annual Korean Culture Day on Saturday, October 17, from 2 to 4 p.m. The afternoon includes Korean food tastings, traditional and K-pop dance performances, and live music at 71 Old Westbury Road.
The program is included with regular Gardens admission, so there is no separate Culture Day ticket charge; that does not make entry to the property free. Check admission categories, passes and any reservation requirements before visiting. It’s an option for families looking to combine an outdoor afternoon with food and performances.
Men, You've Been Misinformed
Men's skin is about 25% thicker than women's, but thicker skin doesn't mean better aging. It means delayed collapse. For years, your skin looks resilient. Then collagen declines, and when it does, it drops hard: deeper wrinkles, heavier under-eye bags, more dark spots showing up all at once.
Most men were never taught to get ahead of this. Women were. And by the time the signs show up, you're playing catch-up.
Particle Face Cream was built precisely for this. One 6-in-1 formula engineered for men's skin — reduces eye bags, dark spots, and wrinkles, restores firmness, hydrates deeply, and revives dull tone. No complicated routine. Over 1,000,000 men already use it. Try it risk-free with a 30-day money-back guarantee.
