$12.6 Million Heart-Care Center Opens in New Hyde Park

A $12.6 million cardiology center is bringing more specialist care and diagnostic testing to New Hyde Park. Long Island Jewish Medical Center’s new facility at 1111 Marcus Avenue spans 10,233 square feet, with 15 examination rooms and five specialized testing rooms. Services include echocardiograms, stress tests and vascular imaging. Part of the Northwell Cardiovascular Institute, the center is intended to improve appointment access and offer same-day, in-office testing. Long Island Business News reported the opening September 17, though the exact opening day was not specified.

Free Fright Nights Coming to Syosset This October
Halloween plans don’t have to come with an admission charge. Syosset-Woodbury Community Park will host three free Fright Nights from October 9 through October 11, with the outdoor haunted-forest experience running from 6 to 9 p.m. each evening. Visitors can expect costumed actors, themed scenes and jump scares. The Town of Oyster Bay cautions that the experience may not be suitable for young children, so families should consider the scare factor before heading over. For event information, call 516-797-7925.

$43,350 County Grant Supports South Hempstead Emergency Equipment
A $43,350 county grant will help South Hempstead Fire District purchase two automated chest-compression devices for emergency response. The Community Revitalization Project funding was presented to the district on September 19, following an earlier funding approval. County documentation identifies the planned equipment as Defibtech Lifeline ARM devices, which provide chest compressions during CPR. The grant supports a specific equipment purchase rather than a general operating budget, directing the money toward tools used by local emergency responders.
