$1 Million in Security Grants for East Hills and Plainview JCCs
Two Nassau County community centers are slated to receive $1 million in state grants for security improvements. Sid Jacobson JCC in East Hills and Manes Mid Island Y JCC in Plainview will each receive $500,000, according to a county announcement published September 22. The funding is designated for security at the existing facilities, rather than a new location or general programming. For residents who use these centers, the investment focuses on the buildings where they already gather.

Help Turn Oyster Festival Shells Into New Habitat
Discarded oyster and clam shells can have a useful second life, and Oyster Festival volunteers can help make that happen. The Town of Oyster Bay is recruiting helpers for October 17–18 to collect shells for habitat restoration and growing new oysters. Three-hour shifts are available between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Volunteers will staff collection stations, help visitors separate shells from other waste and explain the recycling effort. $755,000 Glen Cove Purchase Comes With Healthcare Business Plans
A $755,000 property purchase could bring a healthcare business to 56 School Street in Glen Cove. Buyer Armandip Singh plans to occupy the two-story, 2,070-square-foot building, according to a broker cited by Long Island Business News on September 24. The property is 98 years old. The report does not name the business, identify its services or provide an opening date, so this is a planned location rather than a service residents can book.
