$26.8 Million Refinancing for Port Washington’s Soundview Marketplace

Soundview Marketplace in Port Washington has secured $26.8 million in refinancing from City National Bank, while construction continues on a new fitness-club location. The Training Station Athletic Club is moving into a 22,100-square-foot former movie-theater space, with a November opening scheduled, according to a September 23 report. Owners PEBB Enterprises and Sagamore Hill Partners also report that the shopping center’s ground-level retail space is fully leased. For residents, the upcoming gym is the most visible change. The $26.8 million figure represents refinancing, not the gym’s construction budget.

New Lawn-Care Campaign Aims to Protect Local Waterways

A planned education campaign would help Nassau homeowners care for their lawns while protecting local water quality. The Long Island Regional Planning Council and state Department of Environmental Conservation are seeking a team to develop outreach encouraging reduced fertilizer use. The campaign would serve Nassau and Suffolk counties, with possible videos, public workshops and educational materials at garden centers. Lawn-care companies and retailers are also part of the intended audience. Proposals are due October 30; the resident-facing campaign has not yet launched.

Here’s Why Experts Say to Ditch Your Old Cutting Boards

Before you prep another meal, here’s what you need to know:

  • Plastic boards shed microplastic particles into your food with every cut.

  • Wooden boards trap moisture and food residue, the perfect breeding ground for hidden bacteria and toxic mold that transfers to your food.
