šŸ˜ļø New Housing Projects Coming to Long Island

Long Island is getting ready for some big changes in housing. New York State just put $26.3 million into five different housing projects, which will create 748 new homes. More than 340 of these will be affordable places to live for working families. The biggest winner is the Carriage House project in Patchogue, getting $8 million to build 262 new homes. Another cool project is The Grand at Baldwin - they're getting $6 million to build 215 homes right next to the train station, making it easy for people to get to work.

These new homes aren't just about putting roofs over heads. They're about making it possible for more families to stay on Long Island, where housing prices keep going up. Plus, building these homes will create jobs and help local businesses.

Do red cars cost more to insure?

You may have heard the myth that red cars cost more to insure, often with varying reasons why. The truth is, the color of your car has nothing to do with your premium. Insurance companies are more interested in your vehicle’s make, model, age, safety features, and your driving history. What’s not a myth, though — is that people really can save a ton of money by switching insurers. Check out Money’s car insurance tool to see if you could, too.

🄪 New Jimmy John's Brings Fresh Subs to Miller Place

A new Jimmy John's sandwich shop is opening in Miller Place's Aliano Shopping Center on Route 25A. It'll be Suffolk County's second location and Long Island's fourth. The shop's sign is up, and work is going on inside.

šŸ’š NY Puts $16M into Clean Energy Jobs

Governor Hochul is investing $16M to train New Yorkers for clean energy jobs. The money will help people learn skills for work in renewable energy and energy saving projects. The program aims to create more green jobs while fighting climate change.

šŸš’ Local Fire Department Gets Major Training Boost

South Floral Park Fire Department received $427,000 to build a new training facility. The center will have modern equipment and classrooms to help firefighters learn new skills. Construction starts in early 2026, making emergency responses faster and better for the whole area.
