🌊 $30M for Freeport, Green Energy Expansion, & Pasta Hits Wantagh

Sea Cliff Gas Main Upgrades Underway. South Shore Water Project Nears Completion. New Alzheimer’s Support Center in Amityville.

Hello Nassau! Let’s Talk What’s New & What’s Next
It’s Wednesday, and we’ve got the latest on where funding is flowing, how the state is powering up, and what’s cooking in Wantagh. From major community wins to fresh eats and weekend plans, here’s what’s new and what’s next across Nassau.

🌿 Fun Fact Spotlight:
New York’s official energy storage goal has expanded to 6,000 megawatts (6 GW) by 2030, up from the earlier target of 3 GW. Of that, 3 GW of bulk (utility-scale) storage alone is expected to store enough power to run about 1 million homes for up to four hours during peak demand.

🤝 Freeport's Local Charities Get $30M Boost

Some great news for local charities in Freeport and nearby areas are set to receive a big $30 million helping hand from the state! This money will help groups that work with people who really need support in our community. Local leaders got together on July 24 in Roosevelt to talk about all the good things this money could do. This cash will help current programs run better and let groups try new ideas to help more people.

Everyone at the meeting agreed that working together is essential. When local groups team up, they can make the money go further and help more people. This is such good news for Freeport - our local charities work so hard to make life better for everyone.

🔋 New York's Green Power Revolution

New York is making big moves in clean energy. Governor Kathy Hochul just announced plans to add 1 gigawatt of energy storage across the state. This is huge news - it'll double what New York can currently store! The plan is simple but smart. NYSERDA will manage the project, which aims to make the power grid more reliable while keeping costs down for everyone. They're using a new credit system that gives project owners better financial security.

Big Water Project Nearly Done on South Shore 🌊

A massive water quality project is 90% complete after 5 years of construction. The Bay Park Conveyance Project will send treated wastewater straight to the ocean instead of Reynolds Channel, helping clean up Long Island's Western Bays.

New Alzheimer's Center Opens Its Doors 💜

The Alzheimer's Foundation of America just opened a new support center in Amityville. Local families can now get memory screenings, caregiver breaks, and join support programs all in one place. The center aims to help people dealing with Alzheimer's connect and access the support they need.
