Broadway Commons Eyes Major Makeover

Broadway Commons could soon look far different from the Hicksville mall generations of Nassau shoppers remember. A proposal before the Town of Oyster Bay would rethink much of the traditional enclosed layout, remove familiar sections of the property and introduce a new vision for the site, but several important decisions still stand in the way

Free Disco Party Comes to Point Lookout

Town Park Point Lookout will turn back the clock on Saturday, August 1, with a waterfront dance party featuring several familiar names from the disco era. The concert is only part of the evening, with family activities, food and a finale designed to keep the crowd looking toward the sky.

DeafBlind Youth Ride the Waves in Long Beach

For a group of DeafBlind young people, an important vocational lesson took place on a surfboard. A partnership between the Helen Keller National Center and Surf For All brought participants into the water, using adaptive surfing to build confidence, independence and skills in a setting no ordinary classroom could recreate.
