🕺The Retirement Village People Bring Disco Joy to Baldwin Library

The Baldwin Library came alive with the sounds of disco when The Retirement Village People took the stage. The tribute group brought back memories with fan favorites like "Y.M.C.A." and "Macho Man," getting everyone in the room up on their feet.
Seniors, families, and locals all joined in the fun, proving that good music brings people of all ages together. The library's choice to host this show was a hit, giving older adults a chance to get out and meet others while enjoying some great tunes.
"It's wonderful to see so many people come together to enjoy music and have fun," says the library director. Local news teams caught the action on camera, with lots of smiling faces in the crowd dancing along.
The show did more than just bring back disco - it gave seniors a chance to make friends and stay active. These kinds of events help older folks feel more connected to others and happier overall, showing that music really can make life better at any age.

Looking for something special? The Bellmore Jewish Center hosts a fantastic flea market that brings together sellers and buyers every Sunday. You'll find it right at the Long Island Railroad's Bellmore train station parking lot, where Sunrise Highway meets Centre Avenue.
Even on chilly mornings, people come from all around to check out the stalls. There's Tonly Calise, who sells cool vintage toys and games, and folks like Irene who bring items from their homes. "I come almost every week," says Mary Ann, one of the many regular shoppers who can't get enough of hunting for special finds.
The market has turned into more than just a place to shop - it's where the community comes together. You can find everything from old records to handmade wooden items. It's great for the local economy too, giving small businesses and individual sellers a chance to share their goods with neighbors.
Whether you're a serious collector or just someone who likes finding unique stuff, this market has something for everyone. It's become a Sunday tradition for many Nassau County residents who keep coming back to see what new treasures they might discover.

🎭 Comedy Night Brings Lions Clubs Together for a Good Cause

The Baldwin Lions Club is teaming up with the Massapequa and Levittown chapters to host a night of laughter and giving back. The upcoming stand-up comedy show will bring together people from all three towns, filling the room with smiles and generosity.
Local comedians will take the stage to deliver their best jokes, while guests will have the chance to contribute to a great cause. Every dollar raised will go directly toward helping the community—funding eye check-ups, youth programs, and support for families in need.
"We love seeing how laughter can bring people together and make a real difference," said a representative from the Baldwin Lions Club. With excitement building, the event is expected to be a hit, sparking conversations and social media buzz.
By joining forces, these three Lions Clubs are demonstrating the power of community spirit. Their collaboration means they can reach more people and create a lasting impact in Nassau County.

🏗️ Long Beach Takes Action with New Planning Board

The Long Beach City Council has taken a big step forward by voting to create a new planning board. This new group will help shape how the city grows and changes in the coming years.
The board will bring together different people from the community - from city officials to local residents. They'll work on making better choices about housing, roads, and other city projects. It's all about making sure everyone has a say in how Long Beach develops.
"This planning board will make sure our community's voice is heard in shaping Long Beach's future," said a council member at the recent meeting. The move comes at a good time, as California faces big challenges with housing costs and availability.
This new approach puts Long Beach ahead of other cities in listening to what its residents want. The board will focus on making housing more affordable while keeping the city's growth on track with what people need.

🚒Fire Departments Join Forces in Long Beach Area

Long Beach and Atlantic Beach have just signed a new deal to work together when fires break out. This means both towns will help each other out during emergencies, which is great news for everyone living in these beach communities.
The fire trucks and firefighters from both places can now cross town lines to help wherever they're needed. This team-up makes a lot of sense - when there's smoke in the air, every minute counts. Having more hands on deck means faster response times and better protection for local families.
Both towns' leaders are excited about working together. "We're looking out for our neighbors," says the Long Beach Mayor. The Atlantic Beach Fire Chief agrees, pointing out that sharing resources means better fire protection for everyone.
This partnership shows how small towns can make big improvements in public safety by working together. It's a win-win for both communities, making sure help is always close by when people need it most.
