Good news for Nassau County residents - your neighborhoods are standing out as the best places to live near New York City! According to GOBankingRates, four local towns are leading the pack when it comes to safety and wealth. Garden City tops the list with amazing numbers: families here make about $293,000 yearly on average, and the crime rate is super low at just 0.26 per 1,000 people. The town scored 84 out of 100 for quality of life.
Long Beach, Floral Park, and Freeport round out the top spots. Long Beach, for example, shows off with an average income of $154,026 and keeps crime rates down at 0.78 per 1,000 residents.

⚽ Long Island Gets Pro Soccer Makeover
The Island F.C. is coming to Uniondale in 2027 with a new 2,500-seat stadium at Mitchel Athletic Complex. The $25 million project brings pro soccer to Long Island through MLS Next Pro league, plus youth training programs. Plans include expanding to 5,000 seats and adding a women's team.
🍜 Popular Ramen Chain Makes Long Island Splash
Jinya Ramen Bar is opening its first Long Island spots in Lake Grove's Smith Haven Mall and on Sunrise Highway in Massapequa Park. The Japanese restaurant chain will serve authentic ramen and Asian dishes, with more locations planned for the future.
🚦Red—Light Camera Win: Nassau Keeps $400M
A judge ruled Nassau County won't have to pay back $400 million in red-light camera fees, saying drivers paid them "voluntarily." The controversial program, meant for traffic safety, was called illegal by critics who saw it as a money grab. The ruling saves Nassau from making cuts to public services or hiking taxes.
