Mineola will celebrate 120 years since its 1906 incorporation with an outdoor community event on Friday, September 4.

The celebration will take place on Second Street between Main Street and Mineola Boulevard. Street closures are scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m., allowing participating restaurants to place tables in the roadway.

The VHS Cover Band is scheduled to perform at 7:30 p.m., with American Theatre Dance also participating. The Mineola Historical Society plans to display local artifacts, historic photo books and a flag dating to 1906.

The event will combine village history, live entertainment, outdoor dining and support for Mineola restaurants.
