🏥 Long Island Healthcare Excellence: 13 Hospitals Score Perfect Safety Grades
Local hospitals just got their report cards, and the news is great! 13 hospitals across Long Island received "A" grades from the Leapfrog Group, showing they're doing an amazing job keeping patients safe.

Seven Northwell Health locations, including Glen Cove and Huntington Hospital, made the list. Catholic Health had three winners with St. Francis Hospital leading the pack. NYU Langone and Stony Brook University hospitals also got top marks.
These grades come from looking at 30 different safety measures. It's like a super-detailed check-up for hospitals, making sure they're doing everything right to keep patients healthy and safe.
Dr. Jill Kalman from Northwell Health says it best: "Patient quality and safety is our top priority." And she's right - these grades mean Long Islanders can feel good about their local healthcare choices.
🌟 Celebrity Night at Viscardi: Stars Unite for Disability Support
The Viscardi Center in Albertson, NY turned into a star-studded venue on April 30, 2025. Big names from TV, sports, and Broadway came together to help raise money for people with disabilities. The night was filled with fun performances and lots of good energy.
The guests could see bright banners everywhere and feel the buzz of excitement in the air. Everyone was there for one reason - to support the great work the Viscardi Center does. Local celebrities showed up in full force, making the night extra special for everyone there.
What made this event really special was how it brought Nassau County together. When local stars use their fame to support good causes, it helps spread the word about helping others. The money raised will help the Viscardi Center keep doing their amazing work.
"It's incredible to see so many people come together for such an important cause," said the Viscardi Center Executive Director. The night showed that when people work together, they can make real changes in their community.
🏢 Amazon's Next Big Move: Mall Makeover in Massapequa
Amazon has its sights set on a new home at Sunrise Mall in Massapequa. They're looking to buy 26.7 acres of the mostly empty shopping center to build a distribution hub. The mall's been pretty quiet lately, with Dick's Sporting Goods as its last standing store.
The Nassau County Planning Commission just gave the thumbs up to split the property into four parts.
Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino seems happy about it. "We're getting jobs and tax money without putting extra stress on our schools and roads," he says. This could be good news for local job hunters.
The locals have mixed feelings though. Some are excited about the jobs, while others worry about trucks and noise in their neighborhood. The mall's been around since 1973, and now it's getting ready for its next chapter.
The project is still in its early stages, with more approvals needed before any construction starts. The community's keeping a close eye on how things develop.
