🏆 Long Island Healthcare Excellence: Three Hospitals Win Big in Diabetes Care
Big news for New York healthcare! Glen Cove, Plainview, and Syosset Hospitals just got top marks for taking care of diabetes patients. They're the only hospitals in all of New York State to get this special award from ADA-Leapfrog for 2025.
This is pretty significant especially since about 8 million Americans end up in hospitals because of diabetes each year. These three hospitals showed they're really good at watching blood sugar levels and making sure patients know what to do when they go home.
The hospitals' president, Kerri Scanlon, is super proud of her medical teams. This award shows they're doing things right when it comes to helping people with diabetes. It's great news for Nassau County families who need diabetes care.

🏆 Two Long Island Hospitals Get Top Mark for Weight Loss Surgery
Great news for Nassau County residents looking for weight loss help! Two local hospitals just got a special seal of approval for their weight loss surgery programs. Long Island Jewish Medical Center and Cohen Children's Medical Center earned a three-year quality mark from a leading surgery group.
What makes this special? Both centers can now treat both teens and adults who need help managing their weight. They offer surgery options, but that's not all - they also provide non-surgical weight management plans and diet advice that fits each person's needs.
🎓 Engineering Program Gets $5M Boost from Alumni Success Story
Big news for future engineers! Murray Pasternack, a Farmingdale State College alum who built a successful engineering career, just made a major impact with a $5 million donation to his alma mater.
This generous gift will provide scholarships to dozens of students pursuing degrees in engineering technology, making education more accessible for local Nassau County dreamers. And to show their appreciation, the college its naming their engineering department after him – it’s now The Murray Pasternack School of Engineering Technology.
