🍵 Local Café Creates Big Buzz in Glen Head
KJ's Corner in Glen Head just got better! After a month of work, this favorite local spot opened its doors again with a brand new look. The café now has more seats, fresh décor, and even tastier food options featuring organic and seasonal items.

Owner KJ Smith has made this place extra special for the locals. "We wanted to create a space that feels like home for everyone in Glen Head," she said. The café has been bringing people together for over 10 years, and now it's ready for many more.
The grand reopening was a hit! Lots of happy faces showed up to check out the changes. Mary Johnson, who lives nearby, smiled and said, "KJ's Corner has always been our go-to spot. The renovations have made it even more inviting!"
This makeover means a lot for Glen Head. It shows how small businesses can stay strong and keep serving their community. The café gives jobs to local people and brings neighbors together - just what small towns need.

🚔 Lynbrook Police Step Up Against Speeding
The Lynbrook Police Department is taking action on speeding, and they're doing it smarter than ever. They've started putting up speed monitors and adding more police patrols in areas where people tend to drive too fast.

Ainsley Martinez/Herald
This isn't just random - they've looked at a year's worth of data to figure out exactly where and when speeding happens most. Chief John Doe says they need everyone's help to make the streets safer. "We can't do this alone," he told reporters at a recent press conference.
The police are also reaching out to teach people about safe driving. They're not just giving out tickets - they want to help create a community where everyone drives more carefully.
This matters a lot for Nassau County. If it works well in Lynbrook, other towns might copy this approach. The police are using both new tech and old-fashioned community involvement to make the roads safer for everyone.

🏪 Local Tax Credits: A Boost for Nassau County Businesses
Nassau County is making big moves to help local businesses bounce back. At a recent town hall meeting, officials talked about new tax breaks that could really help small business owners who are still dealing with pandemic problems and rising prices.

The plan has gotten thumbs up from both sides of the political fence. Small businesses could see their tax bills shrink, letting them put more money into hiring workers and growing their companies. Local shop owner Jane Smith says these credits would give businesses like hers a real shot at recovery.
The community seems fired up about this idea. The room was packed with business owners and residents showing their support.
These changes could mean good things for everyone in Nassau County. When local businesses do well, they hire more people and spend more money locally.

🌊 Long Beach Takes Action on Major City Projects
The Long Beach City Council met this week to check in on several big projects that will make the city safer and better equipped for the future. At the heart of these plans is a major push to protect the city from flooding.

Herald file photo
Greg Buckley from D&B Engineers shared updates about new flood protection work. The plans include putting in strong walls from the boat launch at National Boulevard all the way to the Tennis Center on Monroe Boulevard. They're also working on fixing drainage systems and building a new pump station on Riverside Boulevard.
These changes will help keep Long Beach safe when storms hit. The city is known to have flooding problems, so these fixes will make a real difference for everyone who lives here.
The council also talked about new money coming in through grants, which will help fix up local spots around town.
