Five new operating suites have opened at Mount Sinai South Nassauās Feil Family Pavilion in Oceanside, a milestone in the hospitalās $500 million capital improvement program.
Open now: Five surgical suites.
Still ahead: Four more suites expected later this year.
The wider investment: A patient pavilion, a $50 million emergency-department project, critical-care suites, a power plant and parking garage.
The $500 million covers the full program, rather than these rooms alone. Two of the nine suites are designed for a planned cardiac-surgery program, bringing more advanced care closer to Nassauās South Shore.
