New York State just announced a $1.7 billion plan to expand universal childcare across New York. The goal is to make care more affordable for families with young kids, especially as federal funding freezes threaten existing programs. By 2028-2029, all four-year-olds would get guaranteed pre-K access, a huge help for Nassau County families facing annual childcare costs of $25,000 to $40,000.

Tony's Tacos is opening another Long Island location at Levittown Mews on Hempstead Turnpike. The 4,000-square-foot space will serve up their 40+ taco varieties, including creative options like Short Rib Peter Luger and Chicken Parm tacos. Expected to open in late 2026, it joins their growing list of spots in Franklin Square, Huntington, Garden City, and Floral Park.
