Major Milestones & Community Spirit Shine in Nassau County

Mount Sinai South Nassau has just opened its brand new emergency department, making a big difference for people in Nassau County. The new facility is part of a bigger building project that includes the Feil Family patient pavilion, stretching across 100,000 square feet over four floors.

The $50 million project brings some really nice improvements to the hospital. They've added a central spot where nurses can keep an eye on patients better, plus nine new operating rooms and 40 special care rooms. They've also made it easier to check patients right at their bedside.

This new department is extra special because it came about after Hurricane Sandy showed how much the area needed better emergency care. The whole setup is meant to help people get treated faster and make their hospital visits smoother.

Local folks will be happy to know that their healthcare just got a big boost. With all these new features, the hospital can now handle more emergencies and give better care to everyone who needs it.

🎖️Malverne's Heroes Honored at Law & Order Night

The Malverne community showed their love for local heroes at the annual Law & Order Night, held at American Legion Post 44 on February 26, 2023. Police officers, firefighters, and medical teams gathered together for a night of recognition and celebration.

The evening brought smiles and warmth as awards were given to outstanding public service officers. Community members got to chat with their local heroes, take photos, and share stories about how these brave men and women make Malverne a better place to live.

This yearly tradition does more than just say "thank you" - it builds trust between the community and those who keep it safe. When people know and support their local officers, everyone benefits.

🎓School Board Plans Bright Future for Locust Valley Students

The Locust Valley School Board got together on March 4th to talk about what's next for their students. They focused on two big things: money and learning. Karen Horoszewski and Janine Sampino, both assistant superintendents, shared their plans for the 2025-26 school year.

Money matters were front and center at the meeting. "Every dollar spent should help our students succeed," said Horoszewski. She wants to make sure the budget fits what students really need. Sampino talked about fresh ideas for teaching that will make classes more fun and interesting for kids.

The meeting brought out lots of people who care about local schools. Parents and teachers came to listen and share their thoughts. It's great to see everyone working together to give Locust Valley students the best education possible.

These changes will affect everyone in town. When schools do well, the whole community benefits. The board is making sure they spend wisely while keeping up with new ways of teaching.

🍀Green Lights & Shamrocks: Tree Lighting Starts St. Patrick's Season

The St. Patrick's Parade Committee of Rockville Centre just lit up their town with Irish spirit. On February 28, 2023, they switched on a tall tree covered in green lights and shamrocks right outside Village Hall. It's their fun way of saying "March is here, and the parade is coming!"

The night was filled with music and snacks as locals counted down to the big moment. Kids and grown-ups watched in awe as the tree burst into bright green light. "This tree makes me think of how much we love getting together as a community," shared someone from the parade committee.

This wasn't just about pretty lights - it kicked off something bigger. The main parade is coming up in March, and it's known as "the parade that cares and shares." People from all over Nassau County will join in, making it a real community party.
