A much-needed change has come to Roslyn Heights this spring. The busy crossing where Middle Neck Road meets Northern Boulevard has been improved to keep people safer, whether they're walking or driving.

The local community had been asking for it for years, especially after several serious accidents. The most heartbreaking was when a 12-year-old boy lost his life after being hit by a pickup truck at this spot. Nassau County, the Town of North Hempstead, and National Grid worked together on this project. They implemented better crosswalks and clearer signs to help traffic move more smoothly.

St. Francis Hospital is bringing free health screenings to North Hempstead this fall. Their mobile health bus will offer blood pressure, cholesterol, and diabetes tests for residents 18 and up - no appointment needed! First stop is Great Neck Social Center on September 16.

🎪 Mineola Street Fair Promises Family Fun!

Mark your calendars for October 5! Mineola's annual street fair will feature live bands, a petting zoo, pony rides, and fun competitions like a "slowest bike race." Over 130 vendors will line Jericho Turnpike and Willis Avenue from 11 AM to 5 PM.

North Hempstead's first-ever Dragon Boat & Lantern Festival is coming on October 4th.
