Concrete Sidewalk Replaces Asphalt Near Leeds Pond

About three-tenths of a mile of concrete sidewalk is replacing an asphalt walkway along North Plandome Road, near Leeds Pond and Manhasset Bay Beach.

The Village of Plandome Manor reported October 22 that substantial portions were complete and work continued on the remaining sections. The route runs across from the Science Museum of Long Island on county-owned property.

The project is intended to improve walking access and pedestrian safety. The village’s update did not give a firm completion date, so it should not be treated as an announcement that the entire walkway is finished.

How Downtown Grants Support Hicksville and Baldwin

A Long Island Business News report examines more than 100 planned downtown projects supported by New York’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative and NY Forward. Nassau examples include $1 million toward Alpine Residential’s 189-unit project at 99 Newbridge Road in Hicksville and $2 million for Breslin Realty’s 215-unit Baldwin development.

This is a look at how existing grants support redevelopment. Project timelines vary, and the funding does not mean the developments are complete.

Help with Eligible Septic Replacements

Nassau County’s ongoing septic assistance program can provide up to $20,000 toward eligible nitrogen-reducing system replacements.

Funding is subject to program eligibility and requirements. Review those terms and the application process before assuming a property qualifies or committing to work.

Where to Find Property Tax Exemption Forms

Nassau County’s Assessment Department lists property tax exemption applications and information by category.

Review the eligibility rules and required documents for the specific exemption before applying.
