Rajeev and Rekha Maini, the husband and wife co-owners, manage every event themselves, making The Metropolitan the perfect combination of personal care and elegance.

A Family Story

To this day, the family is fully hands-on. Raj and Rekha personally work with each client, delivering the absolute best service. Their now-grown children, both physicians, still help by serving, clearing tables, or managing social media. “They supported us through everything, including paying for college and medical school with their savings,” says Roohi. “Helping out here is our way of giving back.” That same spirit of family extends to their staff and clients alike. As one guest put it: “They treated us like family.”

The Metropolitan isn’t just a catering hall —it’s an experience. The Metropolitan is the perfect place to host a variety of events, including  weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs, showers, galas, birthday parties, corporate gatherings, and holiday parties. 

The Grand Ballroom offers a Manhattan-style backdrop for large celebrations, while the Club Room provides the perfect setting for intimate gatherings. Their chefs curate dishes that span American, Italian, Mediterranean, South Asian, and fusion cuisines. The menu includes vegetarian, gluten-free, halal, kosher, and allergy-sensitive options—because no guest should ever feel left out.

 The team can also bring the experience off-site; they provide food catering and decoration to homes, corporate spaces, or other catering halls/venues. 

The Metropolitan is known for its personalized care, creative food options and food stations, and elegant decor. Word-of-mouth referrals remain their greatest source of new clients, a true testament to the unforgettable experiences they create. “Seeing that smile at the end of the night means everything to me,” Rekha shares.

The Why

Turning Milestones into Memories

For Rajeev and Rekha, The Metropolitan is more than a business, it’s a calling.

Because of this, their kindness often goes far beyond expectations. Just last year, when a couple informed the Maini’s that their upcoming wedding ceremony at another venue had been cancelled unexpectedly, the Maini’s opened The Metropolitan that same night and hosted the ceremony. “The bride and groom were devastated, and we just couldn’t let them go through that heartbreak,” Raj recalls.

That same generosity extends to the community. The Metropolitan has proudly served as an event venue for Cancer Stompers, I Am My Sister, Glen Cove High School DECA, and Kiwanis Club of Glen Cove, as well as for local schools, first responders, musicians and comedians. This spirit of giving back is woven into their DNA—and it’s one reason why their clients become lifelong friends. 

Their mission is simple yet profound: to treat every guest like family and settle for nothing less than perfection.
