🏥 East Meadow’s NUMC Receives $1M Gift to Advance Women’s Health

Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow has received a $1 million anonymous donation to upgrade its 3D mammography and bone density scanning systems. The funding will support the installation of Hologic 3D mammography systems with biopsy capability and a Horizon DXA bone density scanner. Hospital officials say the gift, secured by NUMC Board Chair Stuart Rabinowitz, will help improve early detection of breast cancer and osteoporosis, especially in underserved communities. NUMC’s interim CEO Dr. Richard Becker called the donation “an investment in every woman who entrusts her care to NUMC.” The new technology is expected to enhance diagnostic accuracy, reduce unnecessary biopsies, and improve long-term health outcomes for women across Long Island.
