$14.6M Secured for North Shoreโs Shore Road Overhaul
A $14.6 million capital-funding commitment is backing an overhaul of Shore Road through Glen Cove, Sea Cliff and Glenwood Landing. Nassauโs April project update identifies a 3.3-mile corridor with recurring flooding and gaps in sidewalks.
The county said the project was expected to go out to bid this fall. Those details make this a useful infrastructure story for residents who rely on the route: the funding is aimed at a road where drainage and pedestrian access have been longstanding concerns.
This is the Shore Road along the Glen CoveโSea CliffโGlenwood Landing corridor. The cited update confirms secured capital funding and a planned bidding window, rather than a completed rebuild or a confirmed October construction start.

Mineolaโs Fall Festival Fills Memorial Park This Weekend
Mineola Memorial Park hosts a two-day fall festival on October 17โ18, with the event running noon to 6 p.m. each day at 195 Marcellus Road. The lineup includes a vendor market, food, music, childrenโs activities and a pumpkin patch.
The organizer lists October 24โ25 as the rain dates, so check for a weather decision before heading out. One detail to watch on the website: its registration prices are for vendors booking space, not visitor admission. Use the public event details to plan your visit rather than purchasing a vendor registration.

Free Admission and Parking at Rock Hallโs Country Fair
Rock Hall Museumโs 40th annual country fair returns to Lawrence on October 17โ18, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. Admission and parking are free at 199 Broadway, where the outdoor event combines a harvest market, craft vendors, antique cars and colonial-history demonstrations.
Families can also look for farm animals, pony rides, childrenโs crafts, pumpkins and scarecrow-making. Free entry does not mean every purchase or activity is included, so check individual charges on arrival. Fair proceeds benefit the Friends of Rock Hall, supporting a local cultural destination while neighbors enjoy the season.
