National Grid Gives $250K To Island Park Veterans Village
A $250,000 grant from National Grid is helping advance the Tunnel to Towers Foundation's Veterans Village project in Island Park.
The development at 3915 Austin Boulevard is transforming the former Long Beach Motor Inn, a property that remained blighted after Superstorm Sandy, into housing for veterans who have experienced homelessness.
Plans also include on-site support connecting residents with employment training, veterans' benefits, education, budgeting help, legal advocacy, health care, mental-health services and addiction treatment.
The project broke ground in April 2026, with construction and fundraising continuing as the foundation works toward a permanent housing and support campus for veterans.

EPIC Expands Outpatient Substance-Use Treatment In East Meadow
Long Islanders seeking help for substance-use disorders have a new outpatient option at EPIC's East Meadow campus.
The EPIC Family of Human Service Agencies has expanded its behavioral-health services with an Office of Addiction Services and Supports-certified treatment clinic at 1500 Hempstead Turnpike.
The clinic increases access to community-based care without requiring an overnight stay. Because available services, assessment requirements and scheduling can vary, prospective patients or family members should contact EPIC directly to confirm the treatment options offered at the East Meadow location.
