š® Nassau's $4.2B Budget Plan: More Police, No Tax Increases

Nassau County's new budget plan is making waves with some good news for locals. County Executive Bruce Blakeman just shared his $4.2 billion plan for 2026, and there's a lot to like about it. The big win? Property taxes aren't going up - that's four years in a row now with no increases. Plus, the county's getting serious about safety, planning to bring on more than 50 new police officers and 15 other county workers.
They're not stopping there. The plan includes two police academy classes with 100 students each, plus spots for new correction officers. It seems to be working too - major crimes dropped by 13% in 2025, making Nassau one of the safest spots in America. Here's something for families: $185 million is going to help kids who need extra support before kindergarten. This means more early intervention and preschool services for local families.
