$52.3M to Repave the LIE Across Nassau
Nassauโs stretch of the Long Island Expressway is the focus of a $52.3 million pavement-renewal project announced by New York State in June. The scope covers 193 lane miles from one end of the county to the other, including main travel lanes, HOV lanes, shoulders and ramps.
The project also includes cleaning and maintaining more than 1,100 storm drains to improve roadway drainage. Major construction was planned for overnight and off-peak hours to limit disruption on a route used by commuters, buses and commercial traffic.
The stateโs announced target is to finish major paving this fall. This is a look at the funded 2026 project and its scope; the cited release does not confirm that every Nassau segment is already complete.

A Transportation Resource for North Hempsteadโs Older Residents
Getting groceries or reaching an appointment can take planning when driving is no longer convenient. Project Independence provides eligible Town of North Hempstead residents age 60 and older with free shopping transportation to designated centers and discounted taxi rides for non-emergency medical, dental and treatment appointments.
Shopping days vary by community. This is an existing service with eligibility and booking rules, not an on-demand free taxi for every Nassau resident. Call 311 or 516-869-6311 to confirm residency requirements, enrollment, pickup arrangements and the applicable medical-trip fare before arranging a ride.

A Youth-Soccer Funding Lead for Local Parks
Nassau recreation agencies looking to expand access to soccer can review the MLS GO PLAY FUND opportunity listed by the National Recreation and Park Association. NRPA, MLS GO and RCX Sports describe a national funding pool of up to $100,000 to help offset seasonal costs for eligible league operators and players.
Applications are listed as due December 31, 2026, and agencies must complete the MLS GO League operator process as part of eligibility. The $100,000 is the overall pool, not a promised award to one community or money already secured for Nassau.

Silver Miners Have Outrun Silver Since 2020
Since March 2020, silver has returned about 402%. The silver miners returned 445%.
That gap is the leverage our research team focuses on. When silver rises, a producer's net asset value can rise much faster, and share prices tend to follow. It works in both directions, and a mine is only as good as the company running it.
The Ultimate Silver Playbook shows how the team separates the miners worth owning from the rest, and which silver stocks are on its watchlist now. It's free.
