Roslyn High School Gets $250K Boost for Major Complex Upgrades
Student-athletes at Roslyn High School are starting the new school year with a significantly upgraded sports complex.
A $250,000 state grant secured by Assemblymember Charles Lavine helped the Roslyn School District complete improvements across the high school campus.
The project includes a new multipurpose field for baseball, soccer and marching band activities, along with seven new tennis courts and dedicated shot put and discus areas.
The district also added ADA-accessible ramps, stadium lighting, new landscaping, expanded upper parking, a donor paver plaza and concrete walkways connecting the athletic fields. Part of the grant also supported classroom renovations.
The improvements give Roslyn students updated athletic spaces while making the campus more accessible and easier to navigate.

Retired Educators Pack 40 Backpacks for Glen Cove Students
A group of retired educators in Port Washington is helping Glen Cove students head back to class with the supplies they need.
Eleven former educators living at The Sinclair packed 40 backpacks with more than 1,500 school supplies as part of the community's Sinclair Gives Back program. Together, the volunteers represent roughly 640 years of teaching experience.
They also wrote 40 personal notes of encouragement for the students.
The backpacks are going to third through fifth graders and a special education class at Connolly Elementary School and Landing Elementary School in Glen Cove.
The project combines back-to-school support with something these retired teachers know well: helping children feel prepared to learn.

Oyster Bay's Baymen Memorial Marks Its First Summer on the Harbor
A new monument at Theodore Roosevelt Park is giving Oyster Bay a permanent place to recognize the people who have made their living on the water.
The Baymen's Memorial Monument, unveiled in June, depicts a bayman aboard his boat pulling in his catch and overlooks Oyster Bay Harbor.
The memorial honors generations of local baymen, including those who lost their lives while working on the water.
The Baymen's Heritage Association raised funds for the project, with Billy Joel among its contributors. Oyster Bay artist Kirk Larsen developed the original design and helped move the project toward completion.
After its first full summer by the harbor, the monument has added a new landmark dedicated to Oyster Bay's maritime history.
