$350K Gift Expands Cancer Clinical Trials at Mount Sinai South Nassau

Mount Sinai South Nassau has received a $350,000 gift from the Betty Ajces Trust to expand access to cancer clinical trials for patients on Long Island.
The funding will support the hospital’s work with the Mount Sinai Tisch Cancer Institute, helping more eligible patients learn about and potentially participate in studies examining new approaches to cancer care.
Mount Sinai South Nassau’s Feil Cancer Center treats approximately 2,500 patients each year. The donation marks the trust’s fourth major gift to the hospital since 2023, bringing its total support to approximately $2.05 million.
The gift expands clinical-trial access and research support, but it does not guarantee enrollment. Participation depends on each study’s eligibility requirements and a patient’s medical circumstances.

25 Long Island Organizations Receive More Than $6M For Security
New York has awarded more than $6 million to 25 organizations across Long Island to strengthen security against hate crimes.
The funding is part of a $70 million statewide round of the Securing Communities Against Hate Crimes program, which reached 290 community organizations. Eligible uses include physical security improvements, cybersecurity measures and staff training, with individual awards of up to $250,000.
The state did not publicly identify the local recipients or provide a Nassau-specific share of the Long Island total. The announcement therefore does not show how much of the regional funding will be used within Nassau County.
