A South Shore Colonial With a Longer Story
1789 Smith Street is a 1930 detached Colonial with four bedrooms, an unfinished basement, and a one-car garage. The house itself needs work, but the surrounding context gives it more dimension: Merrick is served by the LIRR’s Babylon Branch, has a library history dating back to 1891, and is home to Norman J. Levy Park & Preserve, a 52-acre preserve with trails, wildlife habitat, a kayak launch, and access to Merrick Bay. It’s the kind of older Nassau County house where the setting tells part of the story.
