New York Announces $100 Million Investment in Police Technology

New York has announced a $100 million investment in law-enforcement technology and equipment. Of that total, $75 million will be available to eligible police departments and sheriffs’ offices for tools such as body cameras, drones, 911 equipment, traffic-safety systems, trauma kits and records-management technology. The James Opens in Garden City

The James is now open at 910 Franklin Avenue in Garden City, bringing the modern American brasserie concept behind its Babylon location to Nassau County. The 130-seat restaurant occupies the former Primehouse space and offers a more intimate version of the brand’s polished dining experience. It is currently open for dinner Wednesday through Sunday, with lunch service expected to begin in September. The restaurant is also accepting bookings for private catered events on weekend afternoons.

Betty’s Burger Bar Set to Open in Merrick

Betty’s Burger Bar is scheduled to open July 15 at 1960 Bayberry Avenue in Merrick, in the space formerly occupied by Rabbit Hole Bar and Grill. The casual coastal concept will feature burgers made with a proprietary beef blend, smashburgers, cheesesteaks, wings, foot-long hot dogs and oversized desserts. A full bar and both indoor and outdoor seating are also planned, giving the South Shore neighborhood a new option for relaxed meals near the water.
