Malverne once had the county’s worst warm-weather nickname. Village history says a fertilizer company near the old railroad crossing loaded manure into flatcars there, and the smell in hot summer months was so bad the spot became known as “Skunk’s Misery.”
Old Westbury Gardens Adds Summer LEGO Sculpture Trail
Old Westbury Gardens is hosting “Sean Kenney’s Nature Connects Made with LEGO Bricks” through Sept. 7. Greater Long Island reports the outdoor exhibit features 17 nature-inspired sculptures made from more than 300,000 LEGO pieces across the estate’s 200 acres. The show is included with general admission, with family nights, Brick Builders programs, and adult Bricks & Brews events planned.

MilkShake Factory Plans First Long Island Shop in Woodbury
Long Island’s first MilkShake Factory is planned for Woodbury Common later this year. LIBN reports franchisee Ben Li is aiming for an end-of-third-quarter opening in a 1,550-square-foot space, with two more Long Island locations planned. The shop is expected to serve milkshakes, non-dairy shakes, sundaes, ice cream, chocolates, and other confections.
