Hempstead Extends Summer at Town Pools, Splash Pads and Beaches
Summer recreation is getting an extension across the Town of Hempstead.
Town officials announced that several pools, splash pads and beaches will remain open beyond Labor Day and through much of September, giving residents additional opportunities to use town recreation facilities.
Echo Park's outdoor pool will open on weekends through September 27, while Sands Senior Pool will remain available on weekdays through September 25.
Splash pads at Baldwin Park, Coes Neck Park, Elmont Park, Seamans Neck Park and Shell Creek Park are scheduled to remain open daily through September 27. Several beaches, including Point Lookout, Lido Beach and Lido West, will also continue weekend operations.
Participating beaches and pools will remain staffed by Town of Hempstead lifeguards during their extended schedules.

Bellmore Couple Turns Mobile Bookshop Into Bedford Avenue Store
A local book business that started on wheels now has a permanent home in Bellmore.
Denise and Juan Carlos Cruz have opened The Wandering Page Bookshop at 103 Bedford Avenue, expanding a business that spent more than a year operating as a mobile bookstore.
The shop officially opened its doors June 27, and Patch highlighted the new storefront this week.
The independent bookstore has already hosted children's author readings, crafts, book-decorating activities and other community events. It also took part in Bellmore's summer block party.
For Bellmore, the move gives another locally owned small business a permanent place in the community's downtown.

Tulum Tacos Plans 200-Seat Restaurant on Long Beach Boardwalk
A growing Long Island restaurant group is preparing to open a new location steps from the beach in Long Beach.
Tulum Tacos & Tequila plans to open Hacienda Tulum at 180 Boardwalk in mid-September, bringing the restaurant group's third location to Nassau County. A pop-up is already operating at the address while the permanent space is completed.
The finished restaurant is planned for approximately 200 seats, with steaks, whole fish, seafood and a full beverage program joining the brand's taco offerings.
The restaurant's owners already operate Tulum locations in Mineola and Baldwin.
The expansion adds another year-round dining destination to Long Beach's oceanfront business district.

| Did you hear about the group of PhD scientists from Johns Hopkins, Harvard, and Stanford who walked into a lab—and left with a breakthrough probiotic in hand? | |
| These scientists zeroed in on one of the most beneficial strains for gut health, Akkermansia muciniphila. They figured out how to bring live Akkermansia muciniphila to the probiotics market. The final result of their work? Pendulum’s Metabolic Daily probiotic. | |
| This particular strain is so groundbreaking because it can strengthen gut lining, improve metabolic and digestive health, and support natural GLP-1 signaling pathways.* | |
| With more than 15k medical provider recommendations, 4.5k mentions of Akkermansia muciniphila in scientific publications, and loyal customers like Halle Berry, this stuff sure sounds promising. | |
