🏗️ New York Greenlights $1B Natural Gas Pipeline Project

Photo by: Long Island Business News

New York's Department of Environmental Conservation just gave the green light to the Northeast Supply Enhancement pipeline project. The $1 billion initiative has been in the works for years and will bring natural gas from Pennsylvania through New Jersey all the way to Queens.

The pipeline is designed to help National Grid and other utilities keep up with growing energy needs in Nassau County. This matters especially during winter months when everyone cranks up the heat. The goal is better reliability and possibly lower energy bills for residents and local businesses.

🤝 Community Chest Steps Up with Emergency Food Aid

Port Washington Community Chest approved a $4,500 emergency grant to help families hit by recent SNAP benefit cuts. The money will split between three local food pantries—Littig House, Our Lady of Fatima, and St. Peter of Alcantara—to buy Stop & Shop gift cards for families facing food insecurity. The cuts took effect November 1.

🎁 Holiday Shopping Gets Boost at Tanger Deer Park

Toys"R"Us and Canada Weather Gear just opened at Tanger Deer Park, right in time for holiday shopping. The toy store brings back a favorite for kids, while the outerwear shop offers winter gear for the cold months ahead. Both stores are creating local jobs and giving families more options for gift shopping this season.

🍔 New Halal Burger Spot Flips Into Hicksville

Flippin Buns, a new halal smashburger restaurant run by local brothers, opened in Hicksville. The menu features burgers, fries, and shakes made with quality halal ingredients. The brothers plan to source locally when possible, giving residents another great option for dining out with family and friends.

A Good Place to Pause: Cafe Inn, Jericho

Cafe Inn isn’t loud about itself, but you’ll notice it anyway. A cozy corner on Jericho Turnpike where the coffee is strong, the menu’s creative (iced hibiscus, affogatos, mango shaved ice), and the mood invites you to stay a while.

It’s got that rare combination of chill atmosphere and quiet energy—great for a solo work session, a reset between errands, or just catching your breath with a lavender lemonade in hand.
