Riverhead Building Supply Plans Oceanside Expansion Through Contractor Express Deal

Riverhead Building Supply has announced plans to acquire certain assets of Contractor Express in Oceanside, a business that has served the area since 1981.

The companies said the transaction would expand Riverhead Building Supply's presence and capabilities on Nassau County's South Shore. Contractor Express owner Bob Lucas is expected to retire after helping with the transition.

When the deal was announced, the parties expected it to close in September after due diligence. A closing had not been announced as of September 13.

STATEWIDE OPPORTUNITY

$35M State Program Opens Funding For Public EV Chargers

New York has opened a $35 million funding program to help public entities install and operate Level 2 electric-vehicle chargers on publicly owned land.

The Charge Ready NY Large Public Sector Project program is open to eligible state agencies and authorities, local governments, and state or city university systems. Awards will range from $1 million to $15 million and may cover up to 80 percent of documented eligible purchase and installation costs.

Proposals are due October 20, 2026, at 3 p.m. The announcement creates a statewide application opportunity; it does not mean Nassau County has already received an award.

Viscardi Museum In Albertson Opens A Window On Disability History

The Viscardi Center is inviting the community to explore its Museum of Disability History in Albertson.

The 4,500-square-foot museum contains more than 8,000 artifacts, documents, books and photographs tracing the experiences, achievements and civil-rights history of people with disabilities.

The museum opened on February 17, 2026. Readers should confirm current hours and visitor information with the Viscardi Center before making the trip.
