Governor Hochul approved nearly $16.4 million in state funding for water improvement projects across Long Island. The money will help install filtration systems to remove harmful chemicals like PFAS and 1,4-dioxane from drinking water. Hempstead gets $5 million, Smithtown receives almost $1 million, and the Suffolk County Water Authority gets $5.5 million.
