Lido Beach has one of Nassau’s best plot twists. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service says the Lido Beach Wildlife Management Area was acquired in 1969 as a former Nike missile site and now protects 22 acres of tidal wetland used by shorebirds and waterfowl.

How Taglio Became a Top 5 U.S. Slice Shop

Taglio Pizza has been named the No. 5 slice shop in the country by 50 Top Pizza, keeping the Nassau pizzeria on the national list for the third straight year. The original Mineola shop and newer Massapequa Park location are known for Roman-style pizza al taglio, cut-to-order square slices with a crisp bottom and airy interior. For Nassau readers, the local angle is simple: one of the country’s best-ranked slice shops is not in Manhattan or Brooklyn. It is here.

Farmingdale’s Music on Main Returns in July

Music on Main returns to downtown Farmingdale on four Thursday nights this summer: July 9, July 23, August 6, and August 20, with a rain date of August 27 if needed. The free Main Street series runs from 5 to 9 p.m. and brings live music, dining, shopping, and summer crowds back downtown.
