Hello Nassau! Let’s Talk What’s New & What’s Next 💙
Midweek check-in, Nassau. Okay, 70 drones is a number that gets your attention.
Nassau County says its new fleet will help first responders reach emergencies faster and give crews a clearer view of what’s happening before they arrive. The technology sounds promising, but residents will naturally want to understand when, where, and how it will be used.
We’re digging into that today, along with a hometown achievement and a local menu taking an unexpected turn. Let’s get into it.

Nassau County Adds 70 Drones to Emergency Response Program
Nassau County Police
have purchased 70 American-made drones for a new first-responder program. The drones are expected to operate from as many as eight stations and may be dispatched to medical emergencies, missing-person searches, crime scenes and large public events. FAA-certified pilots will control the aircraft and send live video to police personnel. The program is expected to cost about $1 million, funded through asset-forfeiture money, and each drone has a reported range of 2.5 miles and roughly 30 minutes of battery life.

Westbury Pitcher Makes Farmingdale State Baseball History
Westbury native Matt Seelinger became the first Farmingdale State College player to reach Major League Baseball when he debuted in relief for the New York Mets. The 31-year-old Clarke High School graduate spent years moving through several minor-league organizations and pitched for the Long Island Ducks before earning the call. His first outing was difficult, and he was later designated for assignment, but the appearance completed an uncommon journey to the majors and marked a historic first for the college.
Nino’s Beach Adds an Italian Twist to Sushi
Nino’s Beach in Port Washington is putting an Italian spin on sushi as part of its latest summer menu. The waterfront restaurant’s new rolls use ingredients such as mascarpone, basil-pesto rice, candied Amalfi lemon zest and stracciatella di bufala. Other seasonal additions include corn agnolotti, red-wine-braised short rib and gnocchi Sorrentino. Diners can choose indoor seating or try for a first-come, first-served patio table overlooking the harbor.

All American Hamburger Drive-In: A Massapequa Classic That Has Stayed Simple
All American Hamburger Drive-In has been serving Massapequa since 1963, and part of its appeal is that it still reads as an old-school counter spot rather than a place trying to reinvent itself. That kind of consistency is the story. In a region that changes fast, businesses that keep a clear identity tend to last.
